Usually I am not a magazine kind of girl, I much prefer a book or the paper. But in one of my best pals rooms which is beautifully decorated for a Uni room were some new additions; these incredible pictures. I commented upon them and she said she'd cut them from a magazine called Oh Comely. So this afternoon I made myself a cup of white tea and sat down and read Oh Comely. It was the best magazine I have ever read in my entire life. There are great photographs, beautifully written articles, amazing recipes to try and all sorts. There was an article written about kindness and short little interviews about peoples perception of kindness and what is the kindest thing they have ever done for something. So I asked the girls what there's was and it turns out we are a kind and thoughtful bunch of people. We'd all done these lovely acts of kindness for complete strangers whether it was offering our seat to an elderly person or tracking down the owner of a phone and giving it back to them. Talking about kindness it really reminded me of this film called Pay it Forward with Kevin Spacey, it's an incredible film. It centres around a school boy and he has the idea that if each person does an act of kindness towards strangers and they in turn do the same. It's such a moving film and well worth a watch, it does make you think that if we were kinder to each other what kind of world would we live in? Would it be a better one? Surely it would but dreams are dreams I suppose.
Anyway I have this thing that I do and I don't know why I do it or where I got the idea from or where it even started. Firstly I'd like to say, I wouldn't really think of myself as superstitious; Okay I do read my horoscopes once in a blue moon and I do salute magpie's and say the rhyme. But I am a firm believer in you make your own luck. You know the saying about a penny heads up provides you good luck and you should pick it up? Well I never do, if I see a penny I turn it head side up so somebody else can get good luck. Or I will put pennies on the floor heads side up to again give people good luck. Like I said I don't know why, or anything I just really like to do it. In all honesty it picking up a penny off the floor head side up is probably not going to give anyone good luck. But then again it may do and I'd like to be involved in giving out good luck. It's just a shame I don't have a bottle of Felix Felicis to hand out, now that would provide some great outcomes.
