A regular quote from my nan is 'These are the people that will be paying our pension' At first I got really defensive of my generation, 'Were not all that bad' was my general response, which I stick to. But now I'm an adult and nearly in my twenties, I definitely understand where she is coming from especially when we have things like the rioters over summer. I would never generalise and say all teenagers etc are all bad, because there not, but I don't think there that good either. I'm lucky my close group of friends and people that I associate myself with are so similar the same morals and share the same respect for people which is phenomenal. But I'm not sure whether younger people do. I feel they don't know what is important anymore. For me it's respect for others, manners and just being good natured in general, which I don't think younger people share. Perhaps it is the fact that those things aren't hip or cool, but I'm not hip or cool. Or maybe just times have changed!
I have been thinking about the riots a lot lately, and I still can't really come to grips with it. I live in Wolverhampton where the riots were really quite bad, and I just cannot understand why people would do the things they did. It puzzles me so much, not only that but it upsets me more than anything.
