Bank Holiday

For me bank holiday isn't exactly a big deal, a few days off are incredible. But then again the library is closed, and shops and everything is a little tedious. However it was one of my best friends birthdays on Thursday, so the Sheffield 'gang' all lumbered to Jess's house, who kindly put up with us for 4 days. It was so nice for us all to be back together and we had a reason to celebrate (Jess being two decades old). Being in England, the weather is very unsure of itself and very temperamental. On Thursday, we watched the Olympic Flame pass through Wigan, it took a lot of waiting around for us to finally see it, but I enjoyed it. My patriotic side managed to break through my sarcasm and cynicism. That day, we all went back to Jess's and her mum had kindly put on a lovely tea party with scones, clotted cream, finger sandwiches the whole (she-bang). After we'd filled up on delicious sandwiches, we all sat outside and chatted and lit candles and laughed until quite late.
Then Friday, we went to Lake Windermere, we had lunch in a little inn, which was a delight. Then we hired rowing boats and went on the lake. The rowing man, seemed to take a shine to me, probably because I informed him that I was a sixer in Brownies. I took to rowing like a duck to water ( although I'm not exactly sure Jen and Amarni would agree, but they were just jealous that I showed such rowing prowess). It was so nice on the lake, and we had a race back to shore, the other team instigated it, but of course we won. It's something I'm not willing to let the other team forget. I will be at the Regatta next year. Being the immature 'adults' that we are, we of course had to go to the arcade, and get rid of the small change in our purse and wallets.
Saturday, we went to The Trafford Centre, had a meander around the shops and sat in the food court. No trip to another city is complete without a shopping trip and a few trips to the pub of course. That night we went out in Wigan. It was my second 'night-out' in the city which prides itself on being 'the home of pies' I couldn't possibly comment on whether that is true or not. We all got very drunk and danced a ridiculous amount, Joe, Adam and I teaching Wigan the Castor Troy dance, something which I imagine they won't forget in a hurry.
Sunday, was hangover day, lounging around, catching up on TV and discussing the previous night, and going through the pictures.
I had a brilliant time in Wigan, and I hope Jess had a good birthday, which I'm sure she did. Being summer, gang time should be scarce, but fortunately we will be reunited next week, then again when we go to Scotland.

Next on the list is Nottingham to celebrate Amarni's birthday.
